In 2014, Arlington Transit provided their ART buses for our Stuff the Bus Food Drives at 3 local Giant Grocery Stores (Shirley Park, Lyon Village and Virginia Square). We were able to stuff over 10,000 lbs of non-perishables during these 3 food drives!
At our Drive Away Hunger Food Drive event, we had our AFAC van at the BJ’s Wholesale Club on Wilson Blvd on the last weekend of September. We were able to collect nearly 4,000 lbs!
Garden Talks at Central Library
Join us at Arlington Central Library on Wednesdays at 7pm and learn some gardening tips from local experts on how to get the best out of your gardens!
Be on the lookout for our next Open House at our warehouse located at 2708 S. Nelson St.! This is a perfect opportunity for volunteers, both new and not-so-new, to see our facility and to learn more about how we serve our 2,200+ clients every week.
AFAC hosted our annual Wine Tasting event at the Grateful Red Wine Shop. Attendees enjoyed wine and cheese samples and prizes were raffled away at this sold out event!
Shred for Bread
A big thank you to Ann Wilson of Keller Williams Realty for hosting a Shred for Bread event at the Arlington Church of the Brethren!
In exchange for cash or can donations, personal documents were shred for free on site.
AFAC screened the acclaimed documentary on hunger in America, A Place At The Table at the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington.
Mug Night at Whitlow’s
AFAC’s Young Professionals group hosted a Mug Night at Whitlow’s on Wilson, where portions of every mug sold this night will benefit AFAC.
